Bacchus Biography

Bacchus is a French-speaking progressive rock/metal band from Montreal, founded in 1992. Influenced by both the classic progressive rock scene (think Yes, Rush, King Crimson, etc.) and Quebec rock music (think Offenbach, Harmonium, etc.), the band stands out for its original blend of progressive rock, metal, and jazz fusion-inspired improvisation.

After releasing their self-titled debut album in 1994, the band began work on a second album, but it was never completed or released. The band eventually disbanded in 1998.

Michel Héroux – guitars
Sylvain Poirier – vocals & rhythm guitar
Pierre Roberge – bass
Bruno Roy – drums & back vocals
Notable contributions: Éric Sabourin on lyrics, Marc Chabot on lyrics, and Charles Guillemette on drums (replacing Bruno Roy in 1996).
