Aetherion Interview With Music Review World
Aetherion Interview With Music Review World

Aetherion is a symphonic power metal band formed in 2024 by Italian guitarist and founder Mauro “Akkin” Signorelli and keyboardist Antonio Costa. The lineup brings together members from across Europe: Italian-Finnish vocalist Paolo Rubini, German bassist Marcus, and Spanish drummer William, with Anthony on keyboards from Australia.

Drawing inspiration from legends like Helloween, Rhapsody, Labirynth, Blind Guardian and the wider power metal scene, Aetherion blends speed, melody, and symphonic atmospheres into their sound. Their debut full-length “MAJESTY OF THE WORLD” packs 8 tracks of pure symphonic power metal, led by the first single “Halloween Night.”

Let’s get to know the Aetherion even more..

Where are you from?

Hi, my name is Akkin and I’m the founder and guitarist of Aetherion, a symphonic power metal band. We’re a band with members from various countries. Paul(vocals) and I come from Italy, Marcus (bassist) comes from Germany, William (drums) comes from Spain, and Anthony (keyboards) is Italian-Australian and lives there. We formed in 2024 because I wanted to play metal, a genre I’ve always listened to since I was young, and bands like Helloween, Blind Guardian, and Iron Maiden have always been my favorites, and the rest of the band agrees with me, so we took our influences and inserted them into Aetherion’s compositions.

How long have you been making music?

The project was born at the beginning of 2024, when the need arose to play the genre that I have always loved, hence the birth of the band.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?

Our first album, “MAJESTY OF THE WORLD” has just been released, containing eight songs of pure Symphonic Power Metal,

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background/inspirations behind it?

Majesty of the world is a work that was born some time ago, because even if the band was born only a year ago, I had some songs in the drawer for a long time, I was just waiting for the moment to publish them and once we found the elements for the band we met to work on it together (obviously remotely) except Paolo and I who met to write the lyrics and vocal lines, and I must say that we are satisfied with the final result both in terms of the feedback received and the evaluations from industry experts.

How have/did you end up in the music industry?

I’ve been playing for a long time, I’ve played in various bands and for four years I’ve been a session man for Japan, playing for Japanese artists in the studio, Paul instead has had experience with many local bands and is a singing teacher at an academy in Turin in Italy, Marcus is still young but has talent and is very motivated, William already plays in a Spanish metal band and has a lot of experience, Anthony instead is involved in his solo project that he continues to carry forward and teaches at a music school in Australia, so as you can see each of us, some more than others, has his own musical background and we have all been involved in the music world for a long time.

What do you think of the music industry in 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic hit?

The music industry had already been in bad shape for a long time, even before the coronavirus. Let’s say that with the pandemic it only got worse; on the other hand, however, each of us had the opportunity to compose more, to reflect on our own future…

Who do you think is the most influential artist?

For us, the artists who have influenced us belong to the Power and Heavy world, such as Helloween above all, Blind Guardian, Rage, Iron Maiden, and I must say that even some Italian bands appreciated abroad, such as Labirynth and Rhapsody of Fire, have had their impact, without forgetting the melodic side that is never missing in our compositions.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

For now, the band hasn’t collaborated with anyone else, but who knows, maybe in the future, someone could be there as a guest on the next album…

How do you think you differ from other artists?

I won’t say that Aetherion are the originals because obviously that’s not the case, but I think that we too, like many other Power metal bands, have elements that distinguish us, see Paul’s voice, his voice is not the classic one you can hear in Power metal records, it’s very powerful and deep and expressive at the same time, or some melodic passages that are within the album… obviously, since it’s only the first album, we still have time to forge our style that will distinguish us in the future!

Who would you love to have a collaboration with?

There are many artists with whom we would like to collaborate both live and on record. I could mention Michael Kiske (Helloween), or Kay Hansen. On a live level, our dream would be to be able to open shows for Blind Guardian, Helloween…

What was the first album you bought as an artist?

As a fan of the genre, the first album I listened to and subsequently bought was Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 by Helloween, and when I listened to the solos on that album, I immediately fell in love with it and from there I started buying the band’s entire catalog!

What’s your favorite song at the moment?

Lately, I’ve been listening to the latest album by Majestica, the band of the former Sabaton guitarist, and I really like it! He’s an excellent singer as well as an excellent guitarist!

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album/track would you leave in your draw?

Absolutely the two “keepers of the Seven keys” of Helloween!

What is your favorite quote/saying?

I have no sayings or idioms…

What other hobbies or interests do you have?

I love reading books, and in my free time I read quite a lot of fantasy and detective novels… I sometimes get inspiration from them for the lyrics of the songs, too.

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?

We hope the album continues to receive positive feedback as it has so far, but for now it’s too early to draw conclusions since it was only released a month ago, so we’ll talk about it again in a few months.

What’s in the pipeline after this project?

For the future we are organizing with our label and our agency some dates to promote the album in live venues, it’s not easy because as you know playing live is increasingly difficult, especially in Italy where the metal genre is not considered at all, so we are evaluating a couple of dates abroad, Germany, Spain, as regards the next releases, we are already working on some demos for new songs that will end up on the next album, but I think that until the middle of next year we won’t talk about it, now we are focusing on the promotion of MAJESTY OF THE WORLD.. anyway for all the news you can follow us on our social networks
