Hi-Stone Social – Dot Com (Single Review)

The boys are now back with a brand-new single.

For those of you who are new to this band, Hi-Stone Social is a project centered on releasing songs in the rock, pop, folk rock, blues, and spoken word vernacular. Frontman Don Kushon takes the lead with a commanding presence on vocals and guitar. His performances are backed by Paul Shannon on guitar and backing vocals, Frank Innamorato on drums, and JT on bass. On this song, Joe Paglia helps bring the song to life with his contributions on piano.

The band is releasing their latest “Dot Com,” a song in the blues rock genre that captivates right from the start. The piano is sauntering, and you could really feel Paglia throw himself into executing the chords. Kushon’s vocals on this track are just right. He imbues just the right amount of attitude and sass to give this bluesy number a great vibe.

The reverb on this track gives it a great live performance feel. This song really drew me in with its great energy. I found myself moving around in my seat as I listened to this track. About meeting the woman of his dreams online, the song has Internet keywords that will leave you riveted. In this world where social media has taken over, I think a lot of people will find the lyrics relevant.

The “do-do-do-do’ choruses midway in the track sounded very catchy and infectious. The guitar solo toward the latter part of the track also left me stunned. The musicianship and delivery on this track are spot-on. The band delivers here on all counts. Production-wise, this track had a raw, reverberating quality to it that I think will translate well on a live stage. With that being said, I look forward to one day seeing this band play live.

SCORE/Excellent: “Dot Com” is a bluesy love song that I think offers a fresh approach to a tried-and-true formula. With compelling lyrics, a fun-loving bluesy sound, and a great performance from the band, I think Hi-Stone Social has done something special here. It’s obvious from this track that they have great energy and sound. I have to say, I’m excited to hear what the band comes up with next in the coming months.
