King Size Outside (Single Review)
King Size Outside (Single Review)

Italy’s rock’n’roll pop-punk torchbearers King Size return in full force with “Outside,” the electrifying new single off their self-titled album celebrating the band’s 20th anniversary. Hailing from the Venice area and described as “Chuck Berry wearing a mohawk having a jam session with The Clash,” King Size fuse classic rock swagger with punk grit, and “Outside” is a prime example of this potent blend.

From the first smooth guitar lick, “Outside” pulls you in with an immediate sense of familiarity and energy. There’s an echo to the vocals that creates a vivid sense of space, and the vocal tone itself complements the instrumentation perfectly; it is raw but tuneful, urgent but controlled. When the drums kick in, it’s not just an entrance; it’s an ignition. The song bursts to life and stays in high gear throughout.

You can tell King Size is a live band at heart, and this track feels tailor-made for the stage. It’s the kind of song you can’t sit still through. Whether you’re in a packed club or just playing it on your headphones, it demands that you get up, clap along, and maybe even dance for a moment. Close your eyes, and you’ll practically see the sweaty, vibrant crowd and feel the beer-slick floor beneath your feet.

The guitar solo is where the song really lets loose, premeditated by a scream that’s surprising in the best way, it adds an edge of chaos that feels completely earned. The guitar solo doesn’t just shred, it sings. It hits all the right notes, both literally and emotionally.

If there’s any flaw, in my opinion, it’s in the song’s quick ending. Just as you’re fully in the zone, it cuts off with a suddenness that leaves you wanting more. It could’ve been extended, maybe just a few more bars to let that final energy ride out. But maybe that’s the whole point; to leave the listeners wanting more.

“Outside” is a worthy addition to King Size’s legacy. It’s the sound of a band still hungry, still loud, and still ready to burn up the stage two decades in. Don’t just stream it, find them live, and experience it how it’s meant to be felt: loud, fast, and in your face.

Rating/Excellent  – This is the perfect music to hear live, but that doesn’t mean it’s not good in the studio too. See them live if you can, and if you can’t, well, they’ll always be on spotify!
