‘CHESTER 2031‘ is yet another new single by the mighty LOVEITVIOLET featuring Johnny Sanders. And for some reason, the artist or perhaps the MRW editors pick me up every time the artist has a new offering. In that regard, I’ve become a prolific reviewer of his.
To the review, here it goes…
The artist writes that ‘CHESTER 2031’ is a catchy little ditty that can spook you up, depending on your mindset. He also writes that while it’s long (contradiction there), it might be relaxing.
Actually, the artist has a lot to say about the song, but suffice it to say that you get into it with some preconceived notions, courtesy of the author. He’s a chirpy guy, so you expect the same music.
The song opens with vibrant yet soft guitar strings. The strings are soothing. The vocals – soft and melodic male voice – are equally soothing.
‘Oh oh oh oh Chester’, the vocalist coos.
Also adding to the arrangement is a thumping piano-like key that makes a pingy sound. Drumming comes in to enliven the song from its lethargic and idyllic self.
Storywise, we have a lyrical persona musing to themselves. ‘Thought I’d take a train” we hear. Then we hear about them putting on some jeans, musing to themselves that they’ll ‘see what they let us see’.
Basically, this is a song about a person having taken a train to Chester and describing what they saw.
There’s gotta be something ‘cynical’ about just exploring the world with no troubles, but what can be done? It’s a happy song with beautiful vocals, except we don’t know if the lyrical persona actually takes the train!
SCORE/Excellent: This is a lovely ditty without much drama. It adds to the list of the artist’s varied characters.
