Lauren Mian is an alternative folk singer songwriter from the suburbs of New York. She’s played in various venues across New York City and surrounding areas, including notable places such as The Bitter End and Mercury Lounge, and is so excited to launch her fourth project, “Calling,” which will be on all streaming platforms on February 7.
Lauren wrote “Calling” as an attempt to confront her battle with Sleep Paralysis. She shares, “Typically when I write breakup songs about people, they end up taking the hint, so I figured it’d be funny to write a breakup song for her relationship with Sleep Paralysis”.
For Lauren, music has always been a means of therapeutic escapism, and being able to write about her hardships has immensely helped her.
Lauren was fortunate to have worked on this project with Grammy Award Winning producer, Scott Jacoby, and is so excited to finally share the song with the world. She hopes that her listeners will find a sense of comfort in hearing about her experiences, and find their own personal connection to the song.
