Plasma Driver dose (Single Review)
Plasma Driver dose (Single Review)

Today’s review features the new single, “dose”, by Plasma Driver, an indie rock band from Miami, Florida. Plasma Driver’sname evokes both the electric energy of their home city and the high-voltage intensity of their musical approach. Operating out of one of America’s most vibrant and culturally diverse music scenes, the band represents the contemporary Miami sound that extends beyond the city’s well-known Latin and electronic music traditions.

Plasma Driver is: Eric Calderon – Guitar; Bryan Menendez – Bass/Vocals; Nate Tritto – Drums; and Peter Vayda – Guitar/Vocals.

The band says its sound is a blend of Queens of the Stone Age, Interpol, and The Strokes. The band says their songwriting contemplates the embrace of nonsensical existence, and the exploration of concepts like time, drugs, loss, paranoia, and social anxiety.

So let’s have a listen …

Very punk rhythm guitars start to the song, then the drums and bass enter. The vocalist has an “English” sound to his voice as his voice talk-sings over the top of the pounding punk guitars. Reminds me a bit of The Kinks. “Lower the dose, lower the dose”.

I like it when the heavy guitars drop out just for the bass, drums, and vocals, and later just for a short talking part, “the monkey in his brain.” I really like the heavily-fuzzed guitar solos singing towards the end of the track. This is a good punk song. Some folks will love it.

Review To Earn

SCORE/Good: Plasma Driver delivers a new punk classic, “dose”. Heavy pounding punk guitars drive the song’s rhythm, and when they drop out, you get magic in the mix. Very nice effort by the boys in the band. If you’re into the punk scene, I recommend checking this one out. Much love, Beth
