Texan Country music spectacle Randy C Moore returns with a wistful new single filled with soul and the artist’s signature abundance of charm.

Born and raised in Humble, Texas, Randy C Moore revealed himself as a music prodigy at a young age, writing his own music from the age of just fifteen. With the help of Houston radio celebrity Arch Yancey, his songs were soon being played to people across the state, leading to his featuring on Astroworld’s Country Gold Show, which seated him firmly into the Texas Country music scene. To date, Moore has continually proved his talent and star reputation by collaborating with many Nashville music greats, such as Restless Heart and David Lee, as well as performing for crowds in the US, China and the Middle East, to name but a few. With his expressive and soulful style of Americana, it’s not a surprise that Moore’s music has managed to touch so many throughout his illustrious career.

Now, Moore releases his new single ‘Forget Me Not’, a sombre prayer for forgiveness to God and a wish to keep on walking the sunny path through life. Moore, having studied modern recording and songwriting at Belmont University in Nashville, is well-known for his masterful weaving of complex emotions and storytelling through his lyrics, and ‘Forget Me Not’ is no exception to this. Immediately, listeners are immersed in the singer’s sorrowful mood through a brooding mid-tempo backdrop of acoustic guitars and percussion; leading expertly into Moore’s easy melody and reflective lyrics. From the beginning, the track’s quality of production is stand-out; Moore’s voice sounding clear and resonant in the midst of a crisp mix courtesy of Moore and studio producer/mixing engineer Barry C Sanders. With the track having a relatively minimalistic instrumental, this only serves to heighten the natural expressiveness of Moore’s voice and allows for audiences to effortlessly identify and relate to the singer’s skilled storytelling and sincere manner of singing.

The singer’s rich, mellow vocals hold immense gravity in the track’s opening lines “Forget me not, oh Lord I pray”, which contribute to an introspective tone that emphasises Moore’s regretful lyrics and ensures that listeners are hung on every word sung. The first verse draws audiences into the vocalist’s colourful reminiscences of a joyful childhood (“I was a child with a home in the sunlight”) before admitting that one day he lost his way and ended up straying away from God, causing him anguish and remorse. This is illustrated sensitively through the track’s relatable lyrics and the warmth and tenderness that comes with Moore’s grounded vocal style.

Pleasant acoustic guitar flourishes added to the song in the second verse liven up the mix as the singer’s lyrics describe him losing grip on his soul and his morality as he ventures further down a morally ambiguous life path (“So goes my soul, Where it never stays”). The lyrics here create a seamless shift between this verse and the chorus as Moore remembers his mother’s advice for him when he was young amid his desperate pleas for redemption. After Moore longingly implores “Oh Lord my God, forget me not” at the end of the third chorus, the track is drawn to a sombre close with mournful calls from acoustic and bass guitars echoing into the ether, ending the track with an appropriately atmospheric finale.
