Fresh from reviewing ‘Let’s go’ – a single by the rapperSozea from 2025 – I review yet another single of his. Releasedlast year as well, the track is titled‘Literally’. From an instrumental standpoint, the song embraces a maximalist approach.
The sound is immersive: the bass, kick, and vocals are all prominently thick, with the rhythm projecting a distinct gangsta rap energy. To truly gauge the scale of this production, one might compare it to ‘Who Want to Party’, another of his tracks where the arrangement remains far more subtle.
While ‘Let’s go’ struck a more lighthearted tone, at the end Sozea detailing a night of leaving the club accompanied by women, ‘Literally’ adopts a more grounded maturity: it is a tribute dedicated to his wife.
From a vocal perspective, Sozea’s dense delivery naturally commands the listener’s focus. Lyrically, the rapper covers a variety of topics throughout ‘Literally’, though there are several moments where the vocal mix makes it difficult to decipher the specific lyrics. In contrast, he is perfectly audible at other times. Notable examples include when he mentions that he still speaks of his wife as if she’s a side broad. Another standout line finds him rapping, ‘You’re my dream girl – in this life and the next’. He later declares that she is the queen of his throne and expresses a willingness to prioritize her life over his own – a truly admirable sentiment.
SCORE/Good: While the instrumentation feels both loud and overcooked to my ears, a deeper dive into this track and a few others from Sozea reveals a broad range of subject matter. This particular song presents him as a man who deeply appreciates his wife, which is a truly admirable quality to hear in his writing.
